When Mark Shuttleworth took off aboard Soyuz TM-34 rocket on Thursday, he had something no-one has ever brought into space. Mark has the first ever commercial space-trip insurance.
Aon Space, a unit of US insurance broker Aon, and Axa Corporate Solutions, a unit of Axa SA, are backing Shuttleworth against events including injury and mechanical failure. The firms are also protecting Nasa from liability, in the unlikely event that something goes wrong during his visit to the International Space Station.
